Dermatologists recommend washing bedsheets every 7–10 days. In Delhi NCR's dust and heat, we lean toward the 7-day end. Here's a straight answer for each thing on your bed.
| Item | Wash every | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bedsheet + pillow cover | 7 days | Sweat, skin cells, dust mites |
| Duvet cover | 10 days | Layered on top, less direct contact |
| Duvet / comforter itself | 3–4 months | Insulation keeps sweat off the fill |
| Pillow (the pillow, not the cover) | 6 months | Machine-wash if labelled washable, otherwise dry clean |
| Blanket / dohar (cotton) | 2 weeks in summer, 4 in winter | Direct contact + Delhi NCR dust |
| Mattress protector | 1 month | Absorbs perspiration |
Between weeks 1 and 3, dust-mite populations roughly double. For anyone with allergies, asthma or eczema, this is when symptoms flare up — often blamed on 'the season' when it's actually the sheets. A 60°C hot wash resets the population.
The trick is a controlled 60°C cycle (not boiling), then air-drying instead of high-heat tumble-drying. That's how hotels wash 500 sheets a night without shrinking a single set. Our wash & fold does exactly this by default.
